CRANE IS BACK IN DAYTONA BEACH – Crane Acquisition, a Wisconsin
corporation that bought the assets of Crane Cams Inc., has established a
new company called Crane Performance Products at 1640 Mason Ave. in
Daytona Beach. The new Crane company, like the former firm, will produce
custom-made camshafts and high-performance engine components. The
company expects to create 22 new jobs over three years and make an
initial capital investment of $400,000.
GREEN JOB TRAINING – More local workers can receive 'green' job
training thanks to a federal grant to the Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC)
at the University of Central Florida. The grant will expand FSEC's
weatherization training program, which provides inspectors, contractors
and other skilled workers training courses in energy efficiency
retrofitting and weatherization services. FSEC, a research institute of
the University of Central Florida, is the largest and most active
state-supported energy research institute in the nation. For more
