VOLUSIA EXPORTS INCREASE -- The U.S. Department of Commerce,
International Trade Administration, has reported that the value of
exports from Volusia County for 2008 was $288.4 million. This represents
an increase of $20.8 million (7.8 percent) over the same period in 2006.
In spite of the current economic downturn, international sales remain a
good source of revenue. If you are interested in selling

EURO TRADE FORUM SET FOR ORLANDO -- The U.S. Commercial Service
and the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) are accepting
registrations for meetings with U.S. Embassy senior commercial officers
at the First Annual EuroTrade Forum in Orlando May 2 - 4. The forum will
feature one-on-one consultations and market briefings with 28 senior
commercial officers from U.S. embassies throughout Western and
Central/Eastern Europe and Russian regions. For information and

AMERICAN ECONOMY GAINS 162,000 JOBS IN MARCH – There was a net
rise of 162,000 jobs in the American economy during March, the strongest
monthly gain in three years. The gain was slightly below expectations of
a rise of 190,000 jobs. However, job data of the two prior months was
revised to show 62,000 additional jobs.
SPACE INDUSTRY HAS BIG IMPACT ON VOLUSIA ECONOMY -- More than 250
employees and 67 companies rely on the space industry and produce an
economic impact of almost $11 billion per year.

OCEAN CENTER, ANGELL & PHELPS MAKE ‘BEST OF FLORIDA’ LIST -- Two
Daytona Beach attractions – the Ocean Center convention complex and
Angell & Phelps Chocolate Factory – recently were named to The Official
Best of Florida 2010 list spotlighting Florida’s top attractions. The
Ocean Center was honored as best meeting and convention center and
Angell & Phelps was named best factory tour.
