3-D ROAD PLANNING – The Volusia Metropolitan Planning
Organization (MPO) is encouraging use of 3-D animation to improve future
public presentations on important road projects. The organization sees
it as a better tool than the standard cross section road diagram in
conveying to citizens the look and impact of proposed projects. Visit
this page on the MPO Web site where you can view the five-year Traffic
Improvement Plan in 3-D:

MEDICA 2008 – Enterprise Florida is inviting Florida companies to
participate in MEDICA 2008 -- the premier global Life Sciences/Medical
trade show scheduled in Dusseldorf, Germany Nov. 19 - 22. EFI is
organizing a Florida pavilion to showcase the state’s most innovative
companies. Join some of Florida’s top medical corporations and showcase
your goods and services to an audience of international buyers. Last
year, MEDICA hosted a record-breaking 4,300 exhibitors and about 137,500
visitors from nearly 100 countries. Find out more by contacting Mike
Schiffhauer at 407-956-5570 or e-mail
mschiffhauer@eflorida.com.
NURSING SHORTAGE – Florida's nurse employers expect an existing
nursing shortage to intensify, but a lack of faculty and clinical space
is hampering the growth of the state's nursing schools. A recent study
reported more than 5,000 vacant positions for licensed nurses. If
employers are forced to adapt to a nursing shortage by closing beds or
cutting back on the services they provide for the community, patient
care will ultimately suffer. Survey information is available at
http://www.flcenterfornursing.org.
BUSINESS PARTNERS NEEDED – There is an urgent need for businesses
to partner and team with local business owners to rebuild the Gulf
Coast. There are numerous contracts available but not enough
contractors, vendors or suppliers to fill them. This is not a request
for construction contractors only, but rather small and mid-sized
companies that expand across all industry sectors. A conference to
address these issues is scheduled in New Orleans Feb. 5 - 8. For more
information, contact Pam Dessaso at 866-277-7055 or visit
www.postkatrinasummit.org.
