The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Daytona Beach Community College (DBCC) invites local women in business to participate in a free roundtable discussion Thursday from 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. Discussion topics include Marketing Your Business, Financial Assistance through the SBA, and Registering and Contracting with Federal Government. The roundtable will be held at the Advanced Technology Center at 1770 Technology Blvd., Daytona Beach. For more information contact Nancy Franssen at (386) 506-4723 or via e-mail at sbdc@dbcc.edu.

MAKE YOUR OFFICE A GREEN TEAM -- In addition to sparing the environment, recycling can save businesses money. Volusia County Solid Waste/Recycling is offering free office recycling bins to the first 15 businesses to start a recycling program, including deskside bins and larger, common area bins. The “It’s Easy Being Green” corporate awareness program encourages businesses to recycle at work many of the materials they recycle at home. Volusia County Government tested the corporate program in 2003 by asking staff to include cans, bottles, cardboard, and junk mail to the mixed office paper already being recycled. The County saved $180,000 in disposal costs the first year of the system. The first easy step to discovering savings potential is to call (386) 943-7889 (west Volusia County), (386) 257-6021 (Daytona Beach area), (386) 423-3862 (New Smyrna Beach), or (386) 574-0598 (Osteen) to request a free waste audit.
