LOCAL FIRM SUPPORTS THE U.S. ARMY IN IRAQ – Miller-Leaman, a manufacturer of water purification systems, is shipping four water purification units to Iraq. A contract for almost $1 million calls for the units to take raw water from the Tigris River and produce 100 gallons per minute each of drinking water. The pumps run on 380 volts and filter, chlorinate, and purify the water using ultraviolet (UV) as part of the process. According to Chris Shuster, Vice-president of Sales and Marketing, the complete system was engineered and manufactured here and is the first large system turned out by the company for such a difficult environment and use.
