Hiring continues
at Frontier’s DeLand operations center
The hiring
parade at Frontier Communications Solutions in DeLand continues to
march
on. The communications giant eventually needs to fill close to 500
jobs.
More than 2000
applicants have accessed the Center for Business Excellence’s web
site where an online application has been established. Through
October, more than 165 people have been hired and the process
continues.
According to
the Center for Business Excellence, more than 1,300 people responded
to the initial call for workers. About 600 applicants attended two
job fairs hosted by the Volusia County Department of Economic
Development and the Center for Business Excellence.
“Our job isn’t
just to recruit new companies, we also need to assist with helping
them find the employees they need,” said Rick Michael, Volusia
County Economic Development director.

Frontier Communications opens DeLand center;
hiring for close to 500 jobs continues
Frontier
Communications Solutions, the nation’s seventh largest
communications
provider, opened a new customer operations center in DeLand Aug. 18.
The new
facility was opened officially by Maggie Wilderotter, chair and CEO
of
Citizens Communications. Frontier Communications Solutions is part
of Citizens
Communications headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut. Citizens is a
member of the
New York Stock Exchange and is traded under the symbol CZN.
More than $2
million in improvements were made to the former Teletech facility in
the Woodland Plaza on U.S. 17-92. The company selected DeLand
following a sixmonth
review of more than 200 communities nationwide.
The Volusia
County Department of Economic Development partnered with the City of
DeLand, Daytona Beach Community College and the Center for Business
Excellence to bring the firm to the community.
