The ATC
Entrepreneurial Center provides interim office space for targeted start-up
technology-based companies and those companies transitioning to our
community. A variety of on-site services are provided to assist with
normal developmental needs.
Location:
The Entrepreneurial Center is located within the Advanced Technology
Center on Williamson Boulevard, just north of LPGA Boulevard and
Interstate 95 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Housed
within the $31-million Advanced Technology Center, the 6,000 square foot
Entrepreneurial Center can provide temporary space, or transitional
working space during a relocation period. The Center provides start-up
operations with specialized on-site training supported by the Advanced
Technology Center, the Workforce Development Board, and personnel from the
Volusia County Department of Economic Development, Daytona Beach Community
College’s Small Business Development Center, and SCORE (Counselors to
America’s Small Business.) Daily management and facilitation of the site
and all resources are conducted by the Volusia County Department of
Economic Development.
Best suited for:
The focus of the Entrepreneurial Center is on those start-up
companies developing machining and manufacturing technologies, or computer
or information technology based businesses. Young technology-based
companies relocating from other parts of the country are also welcomed
here.
The ATC offers
training in first class computer labs and has a well equipped machine shop
as well.
With arrangements,
this equipment can be used for additional staff training for the start-ups
or for first stage manufacturing prototyping.
History of the ATC and the Entrepreneurial
Center:
The ATC was funded by the public and private sectors to create
a place to train future area workers for business needs within the local
community. The facility includes occupational classrooms and lab areas
with brand new, state-of-the-art equipment designed for each specific
program. The newly constructed building also includes Internet and network
connections, science labs, a multi-purpose room, a media center and open
computer labs.
The
ATC is a public/private partnership. DBCC, the Volusia County School
System and the Flagler County School System represent the public side of
the project and are joined by the ATC Board of Directors, which is
composed of business and community leaders who represent the private side
of the project. The ATC is a member of the Volusia Flagler Career
Connection Consortium and is supported by the business communities of
Volusia and Flagler counties.
The Volusia County Department of Economic
Development
has leased 6,000 square feet of space in order, with the
cooperation of DBCC Small Business School, SCORE, and the Volusia/Flagler
County School Districts, to create a small business center for the area
(the Entrepreneurial Center.) The integration of the talents and services
of the staff–some of whom work on-site–from the above mentioned groups
creates an atmosphere both nurturing and energizing to new
technology-based businesses.
Space:
Approved businesses can lease office space, when available and
based on floor space, for as little as $150 a month for periods of one
year and renewable for up to three years.
